Find Junk 1.4 coming soon

Find JunkI've been doing a little work on Find Junk lately, getting it ready for an update. One of the big changes will be OpenFeint support, rather than the lame leaderboard I wrote before. Writing and hosting my own leaderboard was pretty cool, but there was much room for improvement. The top scores tended to be filled with the same person over and over; I was thinking about adding some checks to make sure a name only shows up once, but switching to OpenFeint takes care of that. I also get the added benefit of having achievements and such. I don't have a lot of different achievements set up yet, but I've got a few and the possibility for more is there!

Aside from OpenFeint, I want to add a bunch of new pictures, maybe a dozen or so. Not quite as visible, I'm also doing a lot of cleaning up of the game's code. Find Junk was the first thing I made for iPhone, and it definitely shows. A lot of the things I did weren't done in the smartest ways, taking rather round-about ways to accomplish something simple. I'm hoping to improve performance some with my changes; I just ran it on my 3G, and it pauses momentarily when switching between levels and in general is a bit sluggish. I'm gonna try and get the file size down, too; it's at 12mb right now, and steadily goes up as I add more images.

So ya, new version of Find Junk coming soon. Cheers.

  1. Just thought I’d post a follow-up to this. I submitted version 1.4 to the App Store just now. Hopefully it’ll get accepted without problems and will be ready to put up soon.
