Goodbye, iPhone!
Okay, I guess this post is a little bit late. Like, a year late or something. I stopped renewing my developer status for the iPhone App Store some time ago, so my iPhone games are no longer available on the App Store.
At this time I have no plans to renew and get back into iPhone development, so those projects are probably dead. But, if people really want to see them again, I might be persuaded to re-make them for PC/Mac. Otherwise, I think I'm working on better games now, so I'll stick with those.
New Project
Well, I guess it's been a while since I said anything here. I've decided to leave iPhone development alone, and have made all my available products on the App Store free. I'm not sure if Apple will take them down after my membership's been expired for a while, but I suppose I'll find out eventually.
So what happens now, now that I've stopped caring about iOS? Well, I'm working on a Windows game! Full details are still in the works, but at a basic level, the game uses music to generate a tubey track thing, and you have to get through it dodging obstacles and enemies and such. You, the player, will control a thing that moves around the circumference of the tube, and probably will be able to jump from one side to the other. Here's an early screenie of a possible track (minus things like enemies and the player avatar and general mayhem):
It's pretty sweet so far. The red things either spin around or move across the tube. Right now the game targets DirectX 10-level hardware (I'm using OpenGL, but a roughly equivalent version as far as requirements go), but once I get things smoothed out I'll make it run on just about anything.
Find Junk 1.4 Released
Find Junk version 1.4 has been approved and will be available on the App Store shortly! As previously mentioned, I have of course added more levels and objects, as well as some performance improvements, and I have integrated OpenFeint to provide a better leaderboard and achievements.
Go update if you already have the game, or get it from the App Store if you don't! Failure to update may cause issues in the near future, as I will be shutting down the old leaderboard soon.
Find Junk 1.4 coming soon
I've been doing a little work on Find Junk lately, getting it ready for an update. One of the big changes will be OpenFeint support, rather than the lame leaderboard I wrote before. Writing and hosting my own leaderboard was pretty cool, but there was much room for improvement. The top scores tended to be filled with the same person over and over; I was thinking about adding some checks to make sure a name only shows up once, but switching to OpenFeint takes care of that. I also get the added benefit of having achievements and such. I don't have a lot of different achievements set up yet, but I've got a few and the possibility for more is there!
New Site
Welcome to the new site layout! I am hoping that this new blog format will encourage me to provide frequent updates as to what I'm working on. I think I have everything from the old site up here so far. I am working to add a bit more, including details about a new upcoming iPhone game!
I can't say much about it yet, but I can say that it's tentatively called "Rogue Track Runner Squad Zeta" and development is coming along quite nicely. A good portion of the gameplay is done, several ideas for art are floating around and some of the music is already written.
